On World AIDS Day, YEDI took to the streets of Lagos to deliver free medical outreach services to over 500 residents, bringing HIV testing, counselling, and critical health education directly to underserved communities.
Breaking Down Stigma
Armed with bold placards and a message of hope, YEDI volunteers and staff engaged community members with awareness campaigns aimed at breaking down the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS. Messages like 'Stop the HIV Stigma', 'I Know My Status', and 'Love is safe when you rubber up!' resonated strongly with residents who gathered to participate.

Free Testing and Healthcare on the Ground
Beyond awareness, the outreach provided hands-on medical services including free HIV testing and counselling. YEDI health workers — dressed in their signature yellow shirts — set up stations across community grounds, ensuring that no one was turned away. Elderly residents, young people, and families all accessed services in a safe, welcoming environment.
Why It Matters
Nigeria remains one of the countries most affected by HIV/AIDS globally. Events like this outreach are vital in closing the gap between communities and life-saving health services. YEDI's commitment to reaching the most vulnerable — regardless of age, background, or location — underscores our mission to educate, empower, and inspire.
