YEDI is proud to partner with Grassroot Soccer, and with support from the Swedish Postcode Lottery Foundation to launch its award-winning MindSKILLZ program in Lagos, Nigeria for the first time — marking a major step forward in tackling the urgent youth mental health crisis. This two-year initiative will reach no fewer than 10,000 adolescents aged 10-19 in Lagos, including young people with disabilities, as well as parents, caregivers, and trained local mentors.
What is MindSKILLZ?
Co-created with young people in Africa, MindSKILLZ program uses the universal language of soccer to break down stigma and open up conversations around mental health. Through a dynamic 10-session curriculum, participants learn practical tools to manage stress and anxiety, build resilience, and access support — both on and off the pitch.
A Focus on Disability Inclusion
At the heart of MindSKILLZ is a commitment to ensuring young people with disabilities have equal access to health education. The programme has been designed with inclusive approaches that adapt activities for participants of all abilities, creating safe and welcoming spaces for everyone.
What's Next?
Following this launch, YEDI will roll out MindSKILLZ across communities in Lagos and beyond, training coaches and educators to deliver the programme with fidelity and compassion. Stay tuned for updates as we expand our reach and impact.
