For 3 days, the YEDI team participated in the change management, monitoring, evaluation, and learning training facilitated by DAI.

The impact-driven training, which was anchored by Femi Osuntokun, a Change Management Expert with experience in monitoring and evaluation, drilled the participants through the process of managing and preparing for organisational change, the change readiness checklist, communicating change to stakeholders, the risk assessment matrix, learning and adaptation, and monitoring and achieving programme targets, amongst others.

In her opening statement, Tomisin Adeoye, the Executive Director of YEDI, thanked DAI for facilitating the change management, monitoring, and evaluation training for YEDI. She recounted the impact the first training had on the participants while looking forward to the next three days and the wholesome preparedness of YEDI to implement the learning moving forward. She also appreciated the consultant for his expertise and willingness to take the team through these very important training sessions.

On his part, DAI’s MERL Lead, Babatunde Daini, welcomed the participants while reiterating the importance of the organisational change management process and how the M&E training will greatly impact the work YEDI is doing now and in the future. He expressed excitement that the sessions will be interactive and provide a clear opportunity for learning and relearning.

Highlights from the training include the consultant taking the participants through case studies, then splitting the participants into two groups to allow for group exercises, discussions, case studies, streamlining, and project execution, with the primary aim of reflecting the learnings from the ongoing sessions.

Key takeaways from the training include the theory of change, SMART project goals and objectives, effectively monitoring and evaluating projects, the relationship between programmes and M&E, developing good project indicators, establishing realistic project targets, and so on.
