When StreetFootballWorld invited YEDI to select 4 student football players from 4 public schools in Lagos to join their counterparts across the globe in a youth-for-development-focused festival ahead of the UEFA EURO 2016, we were both excited and worried at the same time – worried about how we would raise the money for their Visas and tickets. However, with the support of our esteemed partners and good-spirited individuals, they all participated in the event which took place from June 28 to July 7 in Lyon, France. The management and staff of Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative is using this medium to express gratitude to all those who donated generously towards the France trip of our delegates. With your donation, they were able to join delegates from other countries to participate in the “football for social change‟ festival. They had a memorable experience and also took part in Football3, a new way of using football to achieve fairness, equality, celebration and common good.
From the pictures they shared, it was clear that they mingled with young people from different cultures and languages of the world and learned how to use football as a tool for common good and social inclusion. They have since returned, happy for the experience, extremely thankful for the donation, eternally grateful for the impact, and undoubtedly empowered to be game-changers in their local communities. The delegates, their parents and all of us at YEDI are extremely excited and grateful for your support.
Once again, thank you.
